Expressing your self through Art in the Counselling Session
Art is a wonderful way of expressing yourself and allowing thoughts and feelings to be expressed.
Art is very personal, and conveys meanings to each person. Each of us 'sees' art in their own unique way.
In the session, I don't interpret your art... if you like to you can share what you have created, and what it means to you.
I provide a space for you to express yourself and a listening ear when you wish to discuss your artwork.
During these art sessions you can choose from drawing, mandala, painting or collage.
No skills are necessary to participate and you will begin to explore creative ways of expressing yourself.
Through the art process, people can often approach difficult issues and convey a message much clearer than with words.
The art then serves as a record of these events which the individual can later reflect on and eventually
understand with greater clarity. Using simple art materials you will be able to:
- express feelings too difficult to talk about
- make verbal expression more accessible
- identify feelings
- identify blocks to emotional expression and growth
- provide an avenue for communication
- increase self esteem and confidence
